Cedar has natural oils that resist rot, repel insects, and weather to a beautiful silver-gray over time without needing paint. Pressure-treated pine is cheaper up front but cracks, twists, and rots faster in Kansas weather. Vinyl looks plasticky and gets brittle in winter cold. Most residential cedar privacy fence builds (around 150–200 feet) take 2 to 3 days from start to finish, weather permitting. Day one is post-setting; concrete needs to cure overnight.
